Case Studies

The Lewis Ashley Group is at the forefront of portable and modular building technology.

The team is working on several projects which includes Passivhaus technology as well as more bespoke solutions including Floating Buildings and Elevated Support Structures.

Passivhaus

The Lewis Ashley Group can provide portable, modular and mobile buildings with Passivhaus technology. This technology results in an ultra-low energy building that requires hardly any heating or cooling.

School classrooms, offices, health centres and hospitals, residential accommodation and retail and leisure are just some of the sectors that would benefit from this technology.

These units can be purchased outright or leased which means you can get the extra space needed without a large initial outlay. Additionally, full-service contracts are available so there are no repair, maintenance and upkeep costs to worry about.

Floating Buildings

The Lewis Ashley Group’s range of floating structures provide an excellent cost-effective method of linking water activity to the land.

Yacht clubs, marina offices and facilities, corporate entertainment, and living accommodation are just a few uses of the buildings which have a flotation system at its base, automatically adjusting to changes in the water level.

The Lewis Ashley Group tow the floating buildings into location and create a pontoon-type VLFS platform that rest on the water surface, with the modular building sitting on top.

Elevated Support Structures

Where space is limited, the Lewis Ashley Group has the solutions with its range of elevated support structures. Modular building construction suits medium/high rise residential buildings, where open plan space is needed at ground floor level for basement car parking.

Usually steel framed podiums are used to support the modules, or sometimes a transfer structure in which the beams align with load bearing walls of the modules.

Excellent options when it comes to car parks, welfare facilities of space restricted sites, retail space, accommodation and bridging roads and rivers. All the usual service interfaces can be installed into the modular building – electrics, plumbing and heating.
